The Great Health Debate

This is the time of the year when there is still quite a bit of clamour over "the resolutions".   And with anything regarding weight (gaining, losing, living with...) there is always at least an oblique reference to "diet".

And generally everyone is quick to deny that the way they eat is a diet-- that is, it is definitely NOT one of those "fad diets" that everyone knows doesn't work.  This particular __________ ("way of eating" or "lifestyle choice") has been "scientifically shown" to be the absolute healthiest way for people to live.

And so it goes in this confusing society we live in.  It is particularly confusing for those of us who adjust more slowly to new trends.  Just as we pack the steak knives off to the Sally Anne someone BIG in the nutritional community-- you know, a guru-- has the audacity to suggest that the perfect diet includes red meat (of course, hunted in the wild and slaughtered kosher) and we have to go out and buy a whole new set of steak knives.

At this moment in time there are several camps of eating styles.   It's attractive to me to think that there is an optimum way of eating for each of us- if we could just figure out what that was.

What's most fascinating is that if you were to collect all the experts and put them in the same room, they'd agree on many things.  Healthy and successful diets have many of the same elements included in them.

But, what are those elements?

Health author, Kevin Gianni, has set out to gather a collection of 14 of the world’s top diet experts to find out the answer to just that - which elements of diet are most important.
